Why

Astute®?

TThe Astute® Antithrombogenic Coating actively improves the haemocompatibility of a device surface. Our enables the device to perform its intended function as well as reduces the risk of further complications from occurring in the patient.

The coating interacts with blood in a unique way to prevent platelets from activating and forming a thrombus. This mechanism prevents the device surface from causing a thrombus to form downstream and reduces the risk to the patient. These additional complications can cause further concerns to the patient and increase their time in therapy. The presence of the coating prevents thrombus formation as well as reducing the risk of complications from arising downstream and helps to improve the patient’s well-being.

What is

Assist™?

Astute® Antithrombogenic coating uses an active antithrombogenic component combined with additional passive components to mimic the natural endothelial layer.

The active component gives the coating the ability to interrupt the blood cascade mechanism. This prevents platelets from activating and hinders thrombus formation. Astute® uses the additional passive components to prevent blood components from depositing on to the device surface. This multi-faceted approach provides superior haemocompatibility to the surface and delivers significant benefits which can lead to an improvement in the patient’s well-being. This combination actively prevents thrombus formation, is non-leaching and prevents deposition onto the surface. The non-leaching properties of the coating helps to provide a consistent, long-term effect on the surface without any reduction in performance.
